Geniveve
J. Ruskus Ms. Ruskus is well versed in all aspects of family law, including complex financial matters such as venture capital, stock option apportionment, tax, and property characterization issues. In addition to her litigation practice, she is also a trained mediator and has experience mediating family law matters such as premarital agreements, marital agreements, temporary support matters, and dissolution judgments. She also frequently works as a consultant, or “reviewing attorney,” for individuals who have elected to engage in mediation. Ms. Ruskus is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). She was certified as a Specialist in Family Law in 2003 and is a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialist (ACFLS). She has been named a Northern California "Super Lawyer" every year since 2006 and was named as one of the Northern California's "Top 50 Women Lawyers" across all practice areas in 2008. Ms. Ruskus is an active member of the Bar at both the County and State levels. For Santa Clara County, she was the Chair of the Family Law Executive Committee in 2006, and has also served as the Chair of the Judicial Liaison Committee. Ms. Ruskus also chaired the Silicon Valley sub-committee which reviews and comments on new family law legislation for the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar. Ms. Ruskus earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University. While attending law school at UCLA, Ms. Ruskus was a contributing author as well as the Editor-In-Chief of the UCLA Women’s Law Journal. Prior to joining LAKIN SPEARS in July of 2000, Ms. Ruskus was an associate with the family law firm Trope and Trope in Los Angeles, California.
